Emo Sunday: So this is the New Year…
Emo Sunday vol. 4, a small look back and a peek into my current, nervous-system supportive morning routine
A view from my stay at Kripalu for my brother’s birthday
After a challenging and healing year, I’m delighted to welcome 2025, which I suspect will also be challenging and healing. Isn’t that the point of life? Because challenging doesn’t always have to mean “bad.” Sure, there were experiences I would have preferred not to have had, yet they were also some of the most alchemizing. This past year, I….
Took medical leave and continued to detox from mold illness (2 molds down, 1 to go!)
Endured traumatic, heart-breaking experiences at work and in my family
Figured out how to get my nervous system unstuck from that seemingly ever-present fight-or-flight response
Expanded my psychic gifts and started being more open about them
Learned to put more trust in my body and intuition
Started watching cozy YouTube and listening to music again
Continued playing video games and reading books for fun
Clarified my path and my personal North Star
Just over a year ago, my mentor told me they suspected I had no idea how to relax. I knew then that they were right. Reflecting on last year, I can see that my journey and experimentation were about creating safety in my body to do just that.
And I have the Oura receipts to show me how far I’ve come – I’m in the relaxed and restorative zones more than any other state. It feels f✨cking amazing.
I also learned something important about myself, and it has become my personal mantra:
“The more I relax, the more I release and receive.”
I can’t wait to see what this next year brings me.

Psychic Readings and 1:1 Voxer Support
I’ve made a little change to my service offerings: you now have the option to receive 1:1 support via Voxer, a voice messaging app, to accompany your psychic reading audio. Sending voice notes is one of my love languages, and I became obsessed with the idea that you could have bespoke psychic support in your pocket. If you want to work with me to help you get clear and stay focused on your North Star, click here to learn more and sign up.
The obligatory Emo Grandmother song for the moment…
So this is the new year
And I have no resolutions
Or self assigned penance
For problems with easy solutions

One of the things I learned about myself is that I tend to make self-care practices hard because I think I have to do them perfectly, in a certain way, for a certain amount of time. As fall was coming to a close, I realized that I needed to stop listening to my wellness practitioners – however well-intended their advice – and find ways to care for my mind, body, and soul with some level of consistency. This essentially means making it work for me with the energy and time available each morning. I have a lot of tools in my toolbox that I cycle through depending on my personal season of life.
Here’s the morning routine that’s currently keeping me clear, flexible, relaxed, and happy.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) – or Tapping – with Gala Darling: Tapping is a somatic healing tool that combines tapping on specific meridian points with focused affirmations to release emotional blockages, reduce stress, and reprogram limiting beliefs. I recently rejoined Gala’s High Vibe Honey program and have been loving it to help me forge a healthier relationship with my body. This is the first thing I do every morning after I’ve had my first round of binders and brewed a cup of Dandelion Root Tea from Traditional Medicinals*.
Gentle movement: After the most remarkable trip to Kripalu with my brother for his birthday, I realized that I needed to let gentle movement be enough. Exercise doesn’t always have to be strenuous, and for where I am right now, I kind of need it not to be. I also realized that, for me, it’s about finding ways to make it consistent. So I don’t focus on a certain amount of time or output, but just getting on the mat. I’ve been loving the 10-20 minute stretching and mobility classes from Peloton*, and yoga practices from Strala.
Light therapy + Audiobooks: The third part of my morning routine is spending 10-20 sitting in front of my BioHeal Red Light panel (use this link to get 10% off). I originally got this to help my mitochondria recover, but what I found is that it helps me feel profoundly relaxed. Although I had been listening to meditations in the CHANI app, I switched to listening to novels on Audible instead. It just feels so cozy and fun to curl up with a “book,” a warm red light, and my salted hot chocolate from LMNT*. I genuinely think this is helping me stave off the winter blues, and I notice a difference when I run out of time for this part of my routine.
Currently reading… The Mirror, which is book 2 in Nora Roberts’ The Lost Bride Trilogy. A haunted manner ocean-side in Maine with best friends, romance, and a lifestyle I crave? Sign me up! I’ll be popping back into Sarah J. Maas’ Throne of Glass series shortly – I’m on book 6! BTW, are you on Good Reads? If so, let’s connect!
Apple Cider Donuts from Wildgrain: I’ve mentioned before that I love my donuts. In fact, I have been known to freeze a couple dozen apple cider donuts so that I can enjoy them throughout the entire fall season. This year I got a dozen from Wildgrain*, and I’m obsessed. They’re Boston-based and have the most incredible ready-to-bake breads, pastas, and baked goods. Plus free croissants in every box. Highly recommend.
If you find my work impactful, I’d be honored if you would share it with others, upgrade to a paid subscription, or leave a tip if you feel so inclined. As always, thank you for being here with me!
